Adobe Photoshop® has long been required software for photographers and designers because of it's rich capacity to manipulate images. Less well-known is it's utility for creating images from scratch. Digital painting has come of age in recent years as artists discover the expressive potential offered by electronic media, finding tools like Photoshop to be in many ways as rich and versatile as traditional materials.
This 8 hour workshop focuses on the fundamentals of painting the figure from the live model. Topics will include the basics of the Photoshop workspace, layers, color palettes and brushes appropriate for the figure. Equal attention will be paid to proportion, gesture, anatomy and other important concepts relevant to painting the figure in any medium.
The workshop will be divided into two 4-hour sessions. Instructor Ian Naud will conduct the class through demonstration and individual instruction at each student's machine.
Students are responsible for supplying their own computer and software. Notebook computers and pen tablets are strongly recommended.
