Gesture, anatomy, accurate proportion and surface quality will all be empasized in this intensive course-aimed at giving sculpture students a challenging environment for building larger and more complex sculptures. Models will take on dynamic and reclining poses while students will first pose their armatures before applying clay in a standard blocking out format. At this early stage, more time will be spent on working out the major masses and understanding how the anatomy changes in relation to both movement and gravity. The refinement of details will take place only after the "whole" of the pose is accurately captured in structure and anatomical forms. This class is designed for more experienced sculptors. Students who are new to sculpture are encouraged to take Sculpture Basics first before enroling in this course.
