Basic Linear Perspective
- Price: $285.00
- Number of Sessions: 8
The advent of linear perspective and it's application in painting is among the most formative moments in the history of western art. It forever changed how we make and look at pictures, and even how we see and understand our own reality. For the artist, the discipline of linear perspective provides a means of establishing convincing depth in images, a framework for solving certain structural and compositional problems, and valuable insights into the nature and limitations of visual perception.
This course presents the fundamental concepts required to understand linear perspective and how it functions in images. The basic elements of the Horizon, Picture Plane, Ground Line, Center Line, Point of Sight, Station Point, Vanishing Point, and the Cone of Vision will be identified and explained in detail. Students will be taught to develop simple drawings in one, two and three-point perspective through a combination of lecture, demonstration and supervised studio work.
Note: This course will not meet on Saturday, June 19th but will resume the following week until July 31st.
